Izumi Tsubaki  (椿いづみ Tsubaki Izumi sometimes romanized as "Idzumi Tsubaki") is a mangaka and creator of Oresama Teacher.

Early LifeEdit

Izumi Tsubaki was born on December 11 in Saitama Prefecture (which is also where some of the events of Oresama Teacher take place in). She began to draw manga during her first year of high school, and in her third year, won a manga contest judged by Hakusensha. Tsubaki has a teaching license in elementary, middle, and high school. She is the older twin sister of Koga Yokishi, who is also a mangaka.

Manga Career Edit

Chijimete Distance (2002) Edit

Tsubaki began drawing manga in her first year of high school. She was soon selected to be in the top 10 of Hana to Yume Mangaka Course, and subsequently won the Big Challenge contest. She met her editor at the contest, and her debut work, Chijimete Distance (Change the Distance), was published in 2002 as a one-shot in Hana to Yume magazine.

Oyayubi kRomance (2004-2007) Edit

Whilst in college, she began her first serialized publication was Oyayubi kara Romance (The Magic Touch, Romance from the Thumb), a romance series following the story of a massage-obsessed girl, which also ran in Hana to Yume. A total number of 9 volumes were published, though the manga was poorly received for having a bad storyline and too many shojo cliches.

Oresama Teacher (2007-present) Edit

Tsubaki's next work is ongoing- Oresama Teacher (俺様ティーチャー Ore-sama Tīchā?), a comedy focused on an ex-delinquent trying to life a normal high school life.  As of December 2015, 21 volumes have been released and announced in Japan, while the English volumes (licensed by Viz Media) have been translated up to volume 19. Oresama Teacher has four drama CDs, each bundled with a volume of Hana to Yume.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun (2011-present) Edit

Tsubaki's latest work, Gekkan Shojo Nozaki-Kun (月刊少女野崎くん  Gekkan Shōjo Nozaki-Kun Montly Girls' Nozaki-kun) is a 4-koma romantic comedy published in Gangan Online, and Tsubaki's first non-shojo work. It has received an anime adaption of 12 episodes produced by Dogakobo, and its official English translation is by Yen Press.
